{"id":27670,"date":"2020-08-10T15:30:31","date_gmt":"2020-08-10T19:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.campbell.edu\/?page_id=27670"},"modified":"2020-08-11T12:12:02","modified_gmt":"2020-08-11T16:12:02","slug":"deans-award-engineering","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.campbell.edu\/university-communications\/publications\/accolades-legacy\/deans-awards\/deans-award-engineering\/","title":{"rendered":"Dean\u2019s Award | Engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Dean&#8217;s Award | School of Engineering<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Award for Excellence in Teaching<\/em><\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><b>Dr. Jacqueline Gartner<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-27753 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.campbell.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/jburgher.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"276\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assets.campbell.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/jburgher.jpg 295w, https:\/\/assets.campbell.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/jburgher-217x300.jpg 217w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>The 2020 School of Engineering Dean&#8217;s Excellence in Teaching Award recipient is Dr. Jacqueline Gartner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gartner is an Assistant Professor of Engineering and teaches first-year engineering courses, as well as chemical engineering courses for second- and third-year students and general engineering courses like engineering economy. She is faculty advisor for our American Institute of Chemical Engineers Student Chapter and a a co-PI on our first NSF grant, entitled &#8220;CORE-ES: Campbell Opportunity to Retain and Engage Engineering Scholars,&#8221; funded by the SSTEM Program for $649,756 to provide engineering scholarships. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She also is a co-Principal Investigator for an NSF grant entitled &#8220;EDUC-ATE: Educating Diverse Undergraduate Communities &#8211; Affordable Transport Equipment&#8221; in conjunction with Washington State University for $224,711.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gartner has developed the chemical engineering class-lab facility, selecting and setting up the equipment. She\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">has developed four new courses for the chemical engineering concentration. As part of her NSF grant, she is working with faculty around the country to introduce new hands-on experiments to thermal fluids courses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gartner earned her B.A. degrees in Chemistry and Math-Economics from Anderson University, as well as her MBA.
