Reporting to the Office of the Provost, the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP) operates as a faculty and administration resource and gateway for the development and submission of proposals for external funding.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Mission<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0mission\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>of the OSRP is <\/span><\/span><\/span>to grow, manage, and protect Campbell University’s sponsored programs profile and research enterprise.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The services offered, staff qualifications, and associations with Academic Affairs make the OSRP a complete resource for faculty, staff, <\/span><\/span>and administration seeking outside funding for research activities, community outreach<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0and service programs<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0The <\/span><\/span><\/span>OSRP also <\/span><\/span>provides <\/span><\/span><\/span>administrative services for all awarded grants and contracts to ensure consistent compliance with all regulations regarding the performance of grants at an educational institution.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From idea to archive, the OSRP provides comprehensive support to the Campbell community across the complete lifecycle of grants, contracts and sponsored projects funded by external sources.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a sponsored program or project?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A “sponsored program” or “”sponsored project” is an activity funded by an external organization, such as a government agency, foundation, corporation, or other entity, to conduct targeted research, training, service, or other projects aligned with an institution\u2019s mission. These programs are characterized by formal contractual obligations and specific expectations that go beyond typical institutional funding arrangements.<\/p>\n

At Campbell University, a sponsored project is an externally-funded activity requiring a formal agreement between the university and the sponsor or funding agency. This agreement, which may take the form of a grant, cooperative agreement, or contract, explicitly outlines the terms, conditions, and responsibilities of each party. The sponsor\u2019s investment in the project comes with well-defined deliverables, fiscal oversight, and compliance measures, such as periodic financial and progress reporting to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds.<\/p>\n

While sponsored projects commonly focus on research activities, they can also support teaching, training, event management, or professional development. These projects frequently require university resources\u2014such as facilities, equipment, or personnel\u2014and adherence to additional compliance protocols, especially when involving human or animal subjects, hazardous materials, or controlled substances. Ultimately, sponsored projects advance specific objectives that require Campbell University to meet the sponsor\u2019s standards for quality, timeliness, and responsible stewardship of external funding.<\/p>\n
