The Campbell University First-Year Seminar (CUFS 100) is a one-credit course designed to <\/span>assist<\/span> incoming first-year students in developing behaviors and knowledge-based skills that allow them to be successful and make positive contributions to the university and wider community. The seminar is structured around four major goals and eight learning outcomes. All course content, assignments, and activities are designed to achieve one or more of the course outcomes:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Goal 1: Students will understand and apply behaviors important to collegiate success.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n1.1 Students will enhance their academic success by employing effective study techniques, managing their time and responsibilities, and utilizing campus-based support services.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

1.2 Students will develop and apply critical thinking skills through the analysis of information, evaluation of evidence, and the generation of creative solutions to academic and real-world challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Goal 2: Students will learn ways to cultivate support and belonging within<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\nthe first year.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2.1 Students will build positive relationships and networks by developing effective communication skills and actively engaging in campus activities and enriching experiences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

2.2 Students will broaden their perspectives and enhance their collegiate experience by participating in diverse campus opportunities and applying the Courageous Conversations Model to communicate effectively with others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Goal 3: Students will analyze their holistic wellbeing through learning opportunities based on the Campbell University Wellbeing Wheel.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3.1 Students will develop strategies to balance academics, work, social life, and overall wellbeing, while adapting to challenges and setbacks with resilience.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

3.2 Students will advocate for their mental and physical health by utilizing campus resources and wellness programs, fostering growth and learning from experiences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Goal 4: Students will become active learners who take ownership of their academic journey and cultivate a passion for lifelong learning.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n4.1 Students will set and evaluate personal, academic, and career goals, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing growth and development throughout their university journey.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

4.2 Students will apply career competencies and proactively seek opportunities for improvement and development, supporting their long-term success in college and future careers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
