{"id":655,"date":"2016-12-01T21:16:44","date_gmt":"2016-12-02T02:16:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.campbell.edu\/?page_id=655"},"modified":"2025-05-01T11:25:32","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T15:25:32","slug":"water-safety-instructor-wsi","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.campbell.edu\/life\/campus-recreation\/aquatics\/water-safety-instructor-wsi\/","title":{"rendered":"Water Safety Instructor (WSI)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><strong>*At this time, we are not offering WSI training.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h6>The purpose of the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program.\u00a0 This course will help in developing one&#8217;s understandings of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participants\u2019 progress.\u00a0 It is an approximately 30-hour course divided into sessions, including a pre-course skills assessment and final written exam.<\/h6>\n<h6>The cost for the Water Safety course is <strong>$300<\/strong> and includes the Water Safety Instructors kit and manual.\u00a0 Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.\u00a0 Register early to ensure your choice of classes.<\/h6>\n<h5><b>Prerequisites:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h6>Be at least 16 years old<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Possess a Fundamentals of Instructor Training certificate issued in the last 12 months or a current Health and Safety Services Instructor Authorization<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:<\/h6>\n<h6>Swim the following strokes consistent with Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4:<\/h6>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h6>Front crawl \u2013 25 yards<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Back crawl \u2013 25 yards<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Breaststroke \u2013 25 yards<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Elementary backstroke \u2013 25 yards<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Sidestroke \u2013 25 yards<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Butterfly \u2013 15 yards<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Tread water for 1 minute<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Contact<\/h3>\n<h6>If you have any questions, please contact:<strong><a href=\"mailto:aquatics@campbell.edu\">\u00a0aquatics@campbell.edu<\/a><a href=\"mailto:cuaquatics@gmail.com\">\u00a0<\/a>or 910-893-1353<\/strong><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*At this time, we are not offering WSI training.
