{"id":893,"date":"2016-12-01T21:07:22","date_gmt":"2016-12-02T02:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.campbell.edu\/?page_id=893"},"modified":"2025-12-17T13:31:48","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T18:31:48","slug":"family-education-rights-and-privacy-act-ferpa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.campbell.edu\/registrar\/family-education-rights-and-privacy-act-ferpa\/","title":{"rendered":"Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What is FERPA?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, 20 U.S.C. \u00a7 1232g (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the confidentiality of student information.\u00a0 More specifically, FERPA protects personally identifiable information in students\u2019 education records from disclosure without written consent unless an exception to the consent requirement applies.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/studentprivacy.ed.gov\/faq\/what-ferpa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learn more about FERPA at student privacy.ed.gov \u2192<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>FERPA at Campbell University<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">At Campbell University, FERPA protections go into effect on the first day of classes of the student&#8217;s first term of enrollment.
